HYLO Open: singles and mixed doubles on Wednesday's schedule
· BehindLines newsroom
The HYLO Open is under way in Saarbrücken, Germany, and Wednesday 28 October's programme is being played at the Saarlandhalle. According to the provisional timetable on the tournament's own website, men's singles, women's singles and mixed doubles are in their main-draw first round that day. The finals are not due until Sunday.
Three separate draws
The tournament website, which gives dates of 27 October to 1 November 2026, spreads the opening of the competition over two days. Tuesday 27 covered qualifying, plus the first main-draw round in men's and women's doubles. Wednesday belongs to the two singles events and mixed doubles. Looking at the event as well as the date therefore explains which part of the competition a listing describes.
Singles puts one player against another. Mixed doubles has a woman and a man on each side. Each event has its own draw, so progress in one says nothing about a result in another.
A session window is not an individual start time
For Wednesday the organiser lists a window from 9am to 10pm local time, labelled provisional. Its timetable, updated on 24 August, adds that match order is decided the day before and that finishing times may change as the tournament unfolds. The window cannot tell a supporter when a given player takes the court. The updated order of play is the useful reference for following one match.
The planned sequence continues with the round of 16 on Thursday 29, quarterfinals on Friday 30, semifinals on Saturday 31 and finals on Sunday 1 November. These are scheduled stages, and they do not guarantee that any entrant stays in contention to the last day.
Three details help with Wednesday's listings: the event, the round and local time. A name in a draw is not a win, and a posted start does not prove that a particular match has begun. Results have to be followed separately, through the tournament's scoring sources.
