Three acquisition prizes recognise artists at Artissima in Turin

An award can also change where an artwork goes. At Artissima, the Turin contemporary art fair scheduled from 30 October to 1 November, three acquisition prizes recognise Ruth Beraha, Gamze Palabiyik and Fabrizio Prevedello. Finestre sull’Arte detailed the results on 31 October, and the ANSA news agency also reported them on 1 November.
These three prizes are among the thirteen distinctions presented by the organiser for 2026. The programme brings together galleries, collections, businesses and cultural institutions. In these acquisition schemes, artistic recognition comes with a purchase; the information available about where the works go differs from one prize to another.
Three prizes, three schemes
Ruth Beraha, represented by Ncontemporary, receives the Tosetti Value photography prize. Gabriel Ribeiro, represented by Foco, receives a special mention that also includes an acquisition. The organiser describes a project in dialogue with “Prospettive”, a programme devoted to images, and a purchase for the Tosetti Value corporate collection.
The Matteo Viglietta prize goes to Gamze Palabiyik, represented by VON&VON. Promoted by Collezione La Gaia, it continues the acquisition practice of the collector it commemorates. The selected work joins that collection.
The Museo Ettore Fico honours Fabrizio Prevedello. Two works are acquired on this occasion: Accumulazione per scomparsa (406 A), dated 2025, and Luogo (436), from 2026. ANSA and Finestre sull’Arte agree on these titles and their attribution. The sources consulted do not specify where these two works will go.
A separate fund for museums
Alongside the prizes, Fondazione Arte CRT announces the acquisition of fifteen works by eleven artists for the collections of GAM, Turin’s civic gallery of modern and contemporary art, and Castello di Rivoli. Its statement of 31 October confirms a fund of 300,000 euros.
Those fifteen works belong to this separate programme; they are not the total for the prizes described above. The announcements identify the beneficiary collections but provide no display timetable here. An acquisition adds to a collection, but does not by itself establish that a work is already on view.
