Meta buys Conductor, a tool for running several coding agents at once

· BehindLines newsroom

Meta has acquired Conductor, a young company whose tool lets users run several AI coding agents in parallel, TechCrunch reported on 4 November 2026. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

According to TechCrunch, the news was first published by Axios (which we could not open), then announced by Conductor on its blog. Meta confirmed the deal to TechCrunch without giving further details. Conductor, founded in 2024, launched its core product in summer 2025: it lets users start a software project by deploying several agents into parallel workspaces, in the cloud, locally or from a phone. The agents come from outside labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI, not from Conductor itself.

Founder and CEO Charlie Holtz said Conductor is joining Meta. According to TechCrunch, he said he looks forward to working with Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, and Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta Superintelligence Labs. TipRanks, relying on media reports, says Holtz is expected to join Meta when the deal closes.

For customers, TechCrunch says core features will keep working as before until early next year, Conductor's cloud service shuts down on 20 November, and the company will then begin deleting users' cloud data. Holtz promises "something new" by early next year. TechCrunch notes that Meta launched its own coding agent, Muse Code, in August 2026.

What remains unknown, according to these reports: the price and terms, whether the deal has closed, how many employees will join Meta, Holtz's exact role, what Meta will do with the technology, and whether the partnerships with the agent providers will continue.

TipRanks adds that Conductor is privately held and that the price of the deal is not public.
