Champions League: Como rout Lens 9-1 at Bollaert
· BehindLines newsroom
Como beat Lens 9-1 on 4 November, on the fourth matchday of the Champions League league phase. According to two sites consulted, the lopsided score lifts the Lombardy club towards the top of the table and sinks the northern French side near the bottom.
The match was played at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens. Sportschau's page says it is over and the final score is 1-9 in Como's favour; the same page also shows an unlabelled "0:3" line, most likely the half-time score. That reading fits Sky Sports' page, which credits Como with three goals before the break, in the 7th, 32nd and 40th minutes.
Also according to Sky Sports, Como scored nine times, one of them in stoppage time (90+1), while Lens found the net only once, in the 65th minute, through R. Aguilar. The same site shows a table updated on the evening of 4 November: Como are fourth with 9 points and a goal difference of +13, inside the direct-qualification places for the round of 16. Lens are 33rd of 36 with 3 points and a goal difference of -12, outside the play-off places (the page puts the play-offs at 9th to 24th).
The two pages give different kick-off times (8 pm and 9 pm), probably because of different time zones. The names of Como's scorers appear only on the Sky Sports page and could not be cross-checked, so they are not repeated here.
What remains unknown: no detailed match report was read, so the course of the game, the circumstances of the goals and the managers' reactions are not established. The standings may also still change with the other matches of the round.
